Threshold Exclusive: Aerobridge 777

Rendering of the Aerobridge 777 cockpit.

The Aerobridge 777 has been a hot topic around the XP community recently. The news broke in early January that Aerobridge’s Facebook page and website had been taken down, with some inferring that it was the end of the project. To great suprise, tkpx8 from Aerobridge released a cockpit render of the upcoming freeware jet. He prefaced the image with an update on progress;

Right some update time!

The Project isn’t really progressing for now, we’re still looking for 3d artists who could help us with the cockpit (we have someone who’s willing to help bring it to life). None of us could be able to finish the cockpit window walls because the angles in the reference pictures we’ve collected aren’t very usable and confusing. I’m working on refining the wing texturing at the moment. The flight model is almost completed and we’ll release the GE-90-95B version of the -200ER first, before the RR or PW variants.

We’ve also have a preliminary soundest which will be FMOD’d by none other than AudiobirdXP!

So there isn’t much to show at the moment. The cockpit otherwise has the major components modelled and complete, and mapping of the displays is WIP. Here’s a render (take note the that some smoothing will be fixed:

But we’re not done just yet. Aerobridge have supplied Threshold with a copy for additional screenshots and testing.

From the little time I’ve spent in the aircraft, I must say it looks very promising. This new cockpit render only adds to the excitement! The product wouldn’t be release for awhile from how the update is sounding, but the exterior seems to be completed. And the only major component that needs to be done is the 3D Cockpit, the sounds and the 3D Cabin.

You can see some screenshots of my little joyride below.
