Flightbeam Studios’ Auckland Airport for MSFS on Final Approach

Earlier this week, Flightbeam Studios announced that its upcoming Auckland Airport (NZAA) for Microsoft Flight Simulator is “quickly approaching finals”. The scenery will utilize the graphical and efficiency advantages of the simulator to bring the airport to life with high quality PBR textures and custom lighting.

According to the blog post, the release of MSFS Sim Update 6 brought long awaited fixes for key issues the scenery has been facing. With these issues patched, the developers implied that Auckland Airport should be ready for release in the near future. In addition, a small-scale beta test will be conducted this week to complete the final polishing prior to release.

Though Flightbeam Studios has previously released a P3D version of Auckland Airport, the developers have repeatedly stressed last month that they are dedicated to “produce a native [and] high quality” version of the scenery for MSFS, taking advantage of the simulator’s numerous new technologies. NZAA for MSFS will feature custom airport/runway lighting, realistic PBR textures, and 3D characters, specifically authored for the simulator.

Currently, the release date and pricing of the scenery has not yet been disclosed by the developers. Threshold will keep you updated on this front. For more information on the product, check out another Threshold article.
