Airworthy Designs Releases St. Maarten & Grand Case

Airworthy Designs’ first Microsoft Flight Simulator scenery was released today, centred around the airports of St. Maarten and Grand Case on the Dutch/French island of St. Martin.

The scenery sprouts from their first venture as a scenery designer back on the X-Plane platform, for which they released a similar product under the name “Princess of the Caribbean”.

Part 2 of the series for X-Plane also includes the airports of Saba and St. Barths, thought it’s not clear whether that will be making the jump as well.

Airworthy Designs provided the following feature list for this scenery:

  • FPS optimized with aggressive LOD setups and efficient use of texture assets
  • Custom ortho textures for the airport surroundings
  • Maho beach brought to life with dynamic animations and custom lighting
  • Custom mesh
  • Detailed Interiors
  • Multi-layered ground poly
  • Over 5000 hand placed objects
  • PBR workflow for all scenery assets
  • Continued support with content updates

Released promptly after the initial launch, a bug fixing update, v1.1, was also made available. That fixes the PAPI lights angles to 3 degrees, corrected issues with the mesh and made some ‘minor’ tweaks to 3D objects.

You can purchase Airworthy Designs’ St. Maarten & Grand Case scenery for EUR 15.99 from simMarket.
