FJMAero Releases J-1B “Don Quixote” Version 1.1

A new update to the recently released Janowski J-1B “Don Quixote” for X-Plane 11 has been pushed out by its developer, FJMAero. This update brings the add-on to V1.1.

The recreational ultra-light was developed in the late sixties by Jarosław Janowski in communist-Poland. Originally powered by two motorcycle engines, the single-seater received numerous engine upgrades throughout the years. Thanks to its airfoil configuration and extremely lightweight, the J-1B can take-off in less than 200 meters.

The developer first started the release announcement by thanking members of the X-Plane community for the “overwhelming response” to the original release. The biggest change in this version is the addition of a three-position flaps system as well as the addition of an external light system. The full changelog is available down below:

  •  Addition of a three-position flap system that includes flap animations, a 3D flap selector unit on the panel with custom light indicator logic and FMOD linear actuator sounds for the flap motors.
  • An external lighting system that includes a landing light pod, navigation lights on the wingtips and a vertical stabiliser beacon. In addition, two LED floodlights have been added to the cockpit (each can be fully adjusted up and down, left and right), and backlighting for the GNS430. The light system is controlled by a custom 3D light control unit on the instrument panel.
  • A new livery has been added, ‘Yellow’ or also known as the ‘Busy Bee’
  • The trim instrument gauge now supports both elevator/pitch and aileron/roll trim indicators.
  • Canopy panel transparency can now be disabled and enabled by clicking on the compass unit.
  • The fuel pump is now enabled with the ‘Run’ switch (previously ‘Battery’ switch) to avoid flooding the engine during lighting and GNS430 setup.
  • The Wings template in the paint kit has been adjusted to incorporate the flaps without changing the v1.0 UV layout.
  • Fixes: rotation animations for the landing gear, Hirth F-33 and Warp Drive propeller have been corrected

In the X-Plane.org Forum post, the developer included a tutorial on adding your custom tail number to the aeroplane’s liveries.

To download the update, simply re-download the aircraft from the X-Plane.org Store, if you do not own the J-1B by FJMAero, it is available on the same store for 19.05 US dollars.
