Orbx Reveal Prague Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Orbx has returned to their community forums to reveal their latest product to make its way to Microsoft Flight Simulator – Václav Havel Airport Prague (LKPR). The airport, an identical recreation of its real-life counterpart, will be equipped with high-quality PBR textures, extensive aerial imagery, and 21 points of interest that are scattered throughout the historical city.

Orbx’s announcement stated that the scenery will feature the most up to date layout of the airport, custom animations, custom ground polys, dynamic lighting, and extensive aerial photos. In addition to the features within the airport’s perimeter, the developer also mentioned that around 20 points of interest (ranging from Hvězda Summer Pavilion to Motol University Hospital), as well as 90 square kilometres of orthoimagery, will be placed around Prague, “improving the cloud-affected imagery that is currently seen in sim” and allowing users to explore the historical city.

Václav Havel Airport Prague opened in 1937 and is located around 12km from Prague – “the City of a Hundred Spires”. Serving some 50 airlines and flights to 120 different destinations across the world, the airport saw 17 million passengers in 2018 alone. In addition to regular passenger service, the airport is also home to “five scheduled cargo airlines” and a handful of charter companies.

Currently, Orbx is yet to announce a release date or pricing for Prague Airport, though both are expected to be revealed soon. Threshold will keep you updated on this front.

In addition to the MSFS news, The developers also hinted that the P3D version of the scenery is still being worked on and “will be in testing soon”.

Threshold encourages informed discussion and debate - though this can only happen if all commenters remain civil when voicing their opinions.
