Wing42 has taken to their development blog to share some new insights into their Boeing 247-D project. Today’s post showcased some of the exterior features of the aircraft, but mainly focused on the flightdeck. Development of the Boeing 247-D has gone relatively under the radar as there haven’t been many updates on the project, however, the post states that the geometry and textures of the flightdeck are finished as can be seen in the pictures shared along with the blog post.

The Boeing 247-D is an early United States airliner, considered to be the first aircraft to feature an all metal, semi monocoque construction, retractable landing gear and a fully cantilevered wing. The aircraft took to the skies for the first time in 1933 and entered service later in the year. The D version of the aircraft was originally designed as a one off to compete in the MacRobertson air race, the use of new propellers allowed a speed gain of up to 7 mph.

The developer also shared some of the hassles they faced along the way, stating that: “The Boeing 247 is almost 90 years old and considering that she didn’t operate for a very long time and was only adopted by very few airlines, documentation like technical drawings, manuals and equipment lists were hard to come by.”
Furthermore, the developer shared a picture where the exterior of the aircraft was visible.
