No Money Mondays: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport by JetSet Designs

We all know how dreadful Mondays are. That’s why we are trying to make it better with another edition of No Money Mondays! This week, we are going to Cleveland, OH, which is also known as The Forest City, to check out the amazing freeware rendition of its airport (KCLE) for X-Plane, developed by JetSet Designs.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, located just 9 miles southwest of Downtown Cleveland, serves Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, with more than 10 million passenger operations in 2024. It is interesting to note that it is also the home of one of the 10 NASA field centres – Glenn Research Centre.

Opened in 1925, it was an airport of many firsts: it was the first airport with an ATC tower (1929), lighting systems (1930) and the first airport with a ground-to-air radio system (1939), as well as airport to be connected with a rail transit system.

JetSet Designs’ rendition of KCLE features custom 3D buildings, modelled terminal interior, custom ground textures, hand-placed vegetation, custom taxisigns, modelled surrounding areas, custom ortho tile with mesh and OpenSAM compatibility.

This scenery is available for download on the Threshold forums and requires at least 2.30GB of free disk space, along with a couple of freeware libraries (MisterX Library, ZDP Library 1.2+, OpenSAM, and Living Scenery Technology).
