Established developer Origami Studios have today announced a brand new freeware development project for X-Plane 11. Barra is located on the Isle of Barra, in the Scottish Highlands, and is among the most unique airports in the world, and is one of the only airports in the world that is located on a public beach.

Dellanie from Origami Studios has told us that, whilst this airport is a small coverage area, no detail has been spared in making it as accurate to real life as possible, with custom terrain, interiors for both the terminal and ATC tower, and even textured seaweed on the rocks. All of this builds into an authentic and unique experience that will not be matched at any other airport in the world.

Origami have, as per usual, provided us with a full feature list of what to expect when this freeware is released :
- 4K PBR textures
- Extremely high-fidelity modelling
- Custom 3D terrain around the shoreline
- Terminal with near full interior
- Colour corrected grass for Orbx True-earth North
- Custom water/sand markings with visual cues to aid sim-pilots
It is worth noting that, for this freeware, you are required to purchase Orbx True Earth North for X-Plane 11, for full compatibility.

Barra will be arriving this summer. No further details has been confirmed or any specific release date just yet, however you can join the Origami Studios Discord Server to keep up to date with the latest announcements and releases.
