Orbx Showcases Skiathos Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Orbx Simulations has showcased Matteo Veneziani’s visual rendition of Skiathos Airport (LGSK) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The island country of Greece holds many tourist destinations that have people from all over the world traveling each year to Greece with this airport, in particular, servicing 121 thousand passengers in September 2021.

Skiathos Airport first opened in 1972 as a small airfield for the island until 1978 when the airport got its first passenger terminal and ATC tower. After a minor earthquake in 2001, the airport received an additional newly constructed terminal to help accommodate more passenger foot traffic. Later on, in 2019, both terminals were assigned specific usage, with Terminal One being domestic flights and Terminal 2 being international flights.

Orbx included a small snapshot feature list, starting with an entire airport and island scenery package with custom up-to-date aerial imagery of the airport. PBR textures are used throughout the scenery to accompany the detail of the landside and airside. GSE and static aircraft are also heavily involved in this airport. A complete feature list is currently unavailable as the product is yet to be released, but you can find the small list here:
