Thranda Design has been relatively quiet in past months, with the exception of the release of their PC-6 Turbo Porter in June.
But the team has not kicked back: the DHC-2 Beaver was announced just yesterday by lead developer Dan Klaue.
Part of their new “Dynamic Generation Series” of aircraft, the DHC-2 is being developed with the benefit of access to a real aircraft, according to Klaue.
“Thranda Design has gotten real-life access to a Beaver with the “Holmes Extended Engine mount”, which gives it a unique look, and makes loading the Beaver within acceptable CG ranges much more practical,” he wrote in an announcement post on the x-plane.org forum.
“The Beaver will feature ultra-detailed modelling, 4k PBR texturing throughout, and is part of Thranda’s ‘Dynamic Generation Series’.”
Also announced yesterday, the “Dynamic Generation Series” is to take “full advantage of X-Plane’s flexibility for in-sim, real-time modifications to the currently loaded plane.”
This allows liveries to be customised in-sim, allow the movement of instruments around the panel in real-time, the implementation of multi-layered soundscapes, and more.
“It’s a new generation of aircraft, fitted perfectly to take fullest advantage of X-plane’s inherent strengths,” Klaue added.
“Thranda brings you the ultimate in configurability, flexibility, precision, immersion, customization, experimentation, documentation, and support!”
With respect to the comments of the DHC-2 thread, it was stated there are plans for a float or amphibious variant, though nothing concrete as of yet.
