The popular project VStates for X-Plane 11 is to be formally abolished by its developer Verticalsim.
Taking to social media platforms such as Facebook, the developer said excessive server costs for the ‘seedbox’ outweighed donations.
Another factor that played into the decision was the introduction of Microsoft Flight Simulator, said Verticalsim.
All VStates downloads will remain on Google Drive, though it was not clear if this would be temporary or long into the future.
“I know this is a big announcement, but unfortunately I’m going to have to report the seedbox for VStates is going to be ended as the server costs are becoming to much and not enough donations are coming in to support it, especially with the introduction of Microsoft Flightsim,” said Verticalsim.
“Thus, Google Drive will be the current only option at the time. And the VStates Project comes to end.
“I’d like to heavily extend a thank you to all who supported the project and donated to help make the project become what it has today!”
Verticalsim has instead focussed heavily on new airports for X-Plane 11 and Microsoft Flight Simulator lately; the most recent announcement is that of Clearwater Airpark for both these simulators.
Verticalsim wrote a brief description of the airport and its features: “The Clearwater Airpark (KCLW) is located in the heart of Pinellas County, Florida. The airport sits at an elevation of 71 feet above sea level and is equipped with a newly extended and resurfaced 4108 foot runway and taxiway. It features beautiful landings on both sides with downtown Clearwater present.”
