Verticalsim Updates Tampa to v2.1 for X-Plane

Verticalsim Studios’ flagship product for X-Plane, Tampa International Airport, has seen its first update since the large v2.0 jump, with today’s fixes focused on a ‘complete revamp’ of the terminals.

The new terminal facades have been overhauled with the intention of ‘getting them prepped for Microsoft Flight Simulator, according to the developer.

In X-Plane, this is seen in new HD textures for the terminal buildings.

Secondly, performance is expected to improve for all users by virtue of new optimisations put in place by the developer.

This is because all of Tampa’s textures have been converted to .dds files, which gives better VRAM performance.

Verticalsim ends the post by saying that ‘this will probably be the last update for KTPA for awhile,’ likely hinting at the coming of a new version for Microsoft Flight Simulator taking up much more development time.

The developer was one of the first to speak up about the state of Microsoft Flight Simulator’s SDK, just before the release of the new platform back in August. To see what he had to say back at that time, check out our article about the state of the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK on release.

You can download Verticalsim Tampa version 2.1 from the store of original purchase.

Alternatively, new customers can grab Tampa for $14.49 USD (discounted from $16.00 USD) on the Verticalsim website.
